Ringling Brothers!

Happy Sunday at the circus

An attempt at all four of us looking!

More popcorn please!

"I love the Circus Show!"

We ended our fun weekend at the circus with Poppa! Jack was such a good boy and sat there the whole time and loved all the circus acts! He says his favorite part was the tigers, but I think it might have been the jumping pirates! It was such a fun time! Both little ones behaved which made it a much more pleasant experience!
Poppa came back with us to help put up Lucy's beautiful cornice board he made! It looks so great in her room!

Lucy is 3 months old today...we just can't believe it! She is such a blessing to us and we are so in love with her! She is doing great! At 3 months old, she has rolled over (Front to back), she stands up on her legs (she actually likes to do this most of the time), can rotate herself all the way around on her back, she is trying very hard to roll over back to front..but hasn't quite made it all the way, she takes 2 great naps and sleeps almost 12 hours at night, she smiles and squeals lots (Daddy can get her talking the best!), she is starting to reach and try to grasp objects, she watches her big brother play, she has met lots of fun friends, she has been to the zoo and the circus, and she brings joy to our lives every day!

Just one of those days...

Hey everyone! Riding the carousel at the zoo!

Lucy just along for the ride!

Helloooooooooooooooooooo!

Loving the weather outside

Hello baby girl!

The Men....grilling!

Just playing!

It's hard to create a really great happy moment...the kind where you actually step back while it's happening and think, "wow, this is really happy!" We had one of those tonight! I think the weather helps create these "moments"!
Our day started off a bit rocky..and bizarre. We were on the way to the zoo and as we pulled off the exit, Jack got so sick. He threw up on everything... the car seat, his clothes...Ughh. Very yucky. He had felt fine all morning and then was as happy as could be as soon as we took him out of the car. He started asking us if we could please get to the zoo. We cleaned up the car and sat there with our little man (in his undies) trying to figure out what to do. Somehow, I remembered that I had a box of boys clothes in my trunk (a friend gave me to try for Jack) and we put some clothes on him and decided to just get out and get some fresh air and see how he did. Well, he had a blast and was as happy as could be and ate his lunch and did great. So...no idea what happened. He was reading books, so not sure if he got car sick or just ate too much at breakfast (he had a BIG breakfast)... But, so far he has seemed great all day! ANYWAY, the zoo was great today! The giraffes and zebras put on a show running and chasing eachother and some birds! It was such great weather! We came home and put the kids down for naps... when they got up, we played outside and Daddy grilled BBQ chicken. It was so good! Jack had his little grill out next to Daddy's Big Green Egg and pretended he was cooking too. He ran around the yard so happy and sat at his little picnic table and talked to himself for the longest time. Lucy sat in her chair outside and smiled and looked around. Dinner was so good and Lucy sat so happy in her swing while we ate. It was just one of those days...just the four of us..and just so happy!

More happenings around the house...

Hello world!

I love to squeal!

Happy girl

Mommy - that is too close! Back up with that camera!

Having our snack outside in the nice weather!

Look at my pretty dress that Granny Floyd sent me!

Hey! I am on my side trying to roll over!

That is NOT how Mommy left you! Lucy turned herself sideways!

It's been a pretty good week here! We are VERY happy to have Daddy back in town! Five days felt like a long time for us! The kids did pretty well and slept well which helped, but I was worn out by the time he got home! Granny was here to keep us company and help out which was so great! Jack got up and was ready to go to school on Tuesday (Wooo hoo! I was very excited about having just Lucy and hopefully some down time), but his eyes were so red! Ughhh...So we went to see Dr G, and sure enough we had pink eye! (Jack looked at me and said, "My eyes aren't PINK!"  Luckily, it went away within a day after using the eye drops and back to school on Wednesday! And it wasnt ever very yucky..just red! No one else in the house got it and I have wiped down and washed everything!
In other news...Jack surprised us tonight after bath by saying the Pledge of Allegiance. He stood up to get his pjs on and put his hand on his heart and started reciting! He learns so much in school...we can't take credit for that one! We love him so much! It was too cute! We had to call Nunno and Poppa so they could hear him! He really does amaze us everyday. We have got to start writing more of it down! Last night he lined up all his matchbox cars.. which he likes to do, but when I looked closer I realized he lined them all up by color! They were actually in order of the rainbow...but I am not going to give him credit for that I dont think.... surely that was just by chance, right?
Other funny Jack sayings lately... when Granny was here we said he could watch a movie after dinner if he was a big boy.  This is when the negotiating started! He said, "How about...we watch it before dinner...What do you think about that?!" (Hands on hips I might add!)
The other thing Jack does (which we need to work on actually) is letting everyone else know what they are doing wrong. He lets us know if someone is not listening or doing something that he isn't allowed to do. It's not the best quality to have right now!  Tonight, he told one of his friends not to swing on his tummy because he might fall down and bump his noggin and hit his chin and his face... I am most impressed that he actually hears and listens to us..that is what we tell him about swinging on his tummy!  However, it's not his place to tell his friends what is right and wrong! :)

In Lucy Bear's world... she is just squealing and smiling at us all the time! Daddy can really get her talking! She wore an outfit I made her for the first time yesterday! I was so happy and she looked cute! I didnt take a picture though (Imagine that?!)  She is also trying to roll over (From her back to her tummy) She is working at it but hasn't gotten all the way over yet. However, she is starting to move! I put her down tonight on her mat, and when I looked back she was sideways..and then had turned herself all the way around with her head going the other way. Geeeez.... I think we might have a mover on our hands!

It's 8:30 and everyone is asleep! Now for some quiet time!

Daddy and his Valentines

Happy Valentine's Day to all! This is actually the first Valentine's Day that Steven and I have spent together... or we can't remember one! He is usually in Daytona over Valentine's Day but it's a week later this year! We had a special day! Jack and I made a card for Daddy and made cookies with red M&M's and red gummy bears (by the way...they melt right on the cookie - not a good idea... I am learning! But Jack thought it was fun!) Daddy came home with three roses..one for each of his babies! We had a special Breakfast for Dinner! Pink grits, egg and sausage casserole, french toast hearts, pink milk, and strawberries! It was really good and Jack thought that was too much fun! Lucy enjoyed from the swing! She can have pink grits next year!
IT was such a fun weekend! The weather was nice..we napped when the kids were napping (thank you so much Jack and Lucy for sleeping at the same time!) and we had a really fun night out with friends. Poppa and Nunno came to watch the little ones while we went out to dinner...and (hold on..this is shocking!) out for a drink after dinner! WHOA! It was really fun! We are lucky to have such great friends!

Granny and Peggy get in town tomorrow to visit! Granny hasn't seen the little ones since Christmas, so she is very excited! Lucy has definitely changed!

I think it's close enough to say that Lucy is on a schedule! It is really so wonderful! She wakes up between 6am-7am and takes a nap around 9am and then another nap around 1:30. She sleeps about 2 hours at each nap. She usually takes a little cat nap in her swing around 5pm. She just cant make it all the way to bed time without another little nap. Then goes to bed at 8pm. She is just so happy! She wakes up happy in the morning and at naptime! I go in and start talking to her, unswaddle her and she smiles and stretches! So sweet!
Jack sang a new song to us after bath last night... not sure where he learned it..maybe school? Anyway, it was cute! It goes "Pizza Pizza My name is Jack... I jump around, touch the ground, get back up, and boogy on down!" It's very animated and he thinks it's funny...we are not sure that "pizza pizza" are the actual words it starts with but we can't figure out what else it would be! He keeps us laughing! I know we have talked about his obsession with puzzles lately. It is his favorite thing to do right now...he can put together his puzzles so fast now that we are going to have to get him some new ones! It's so fun to watch him do it and listen to him talk through it! What a little man! Doesnt he look so old in these pictures?!

Leonard baby bath time

Just another night.... Love these babies!

Superbowl....super to be feeling better! Much better Sunday night at the Leonard house than last Sunday!
We had a nice weekend! Lots of good play time at the house (as you can see from the Friday night dance-a-thon), a fun dinner out to celebrate a friend having a baby, and a Superbowl party with the Coopers! Overall, a great weekend!
Jack and Lucy had their first true interaction this week. It was so sweet. Jack has liked talking to Lucy and checking on her, but Friday she really started smiling back at him! He sat with me and I held Lucy in my lap...he just sat and talked to her and tried to get her to smile! He said, "Hey Little Fella!" several times! Too funny! I wonder where he has heard that!? He also said, "She is so handsome!" I told him that boys are handsome and girls are beautiful! So he said, "Well, Lucy is beautiful and I am handsome!" It's funny to hear him "baby talk" to her. They truly copy everything you do! We really have to watch what we say these days! She gave him some big smiles and some cute squeals back! He was really excited and kept saying, "OH look at her smiling!" It really made me so happy. Jack and I had some really great time together during her naps on Friday too. We built 4 or 5 puzzles together ...uninterrupted. (he amazes us with the puzzles. He is really great at it! He will find pieces that fit together before I do..he really thinks it through and talks about the pieces and what he is looking for when he is working on them) He stayed interested and it was really nice. My sweet boy is getting older.
Tonight is Lucy's first night in her room. She is 10 weeks old today and we are ready to have our bedroom back.  It is very bitter sweet though. Our little baby is growing up. She has been taking naps in her crib, but still in the pack n play at night. It just goes too fast. How is she not so new that she should be right there next to us? Ughhh.... slow down.

31 years....2 months.....and 48 hours

Mommy with her babies on her birthday!

Jack helping with birthday cookie cake!

Daddy and his little girl....and cookie cake!

Riding high on Daddy's shoulders! Devin and Dylan with Daddy and Jack

Nannie sent me a Thomas Activity book! How fun!

Let's start with the fun stuff! Lucy had a great 2 month check up today with Dr. G! She really looks fantastic and is continuing to grow like a champ! She weighs 10lbs. 11oz (50%) and is 23 in. long (75%). That is exactly the % she was at 1 month so that is great! She is growing very consistently! And those have been Jack's measurements his whole life too! She has met all of her milestones (bearing weight on her legs, holding her head up strong) and the fact that she sleeps through the night still makes our dr. smile. He loves it and reminds us that our children's sleep habits are not normal! She slept 10 hours last night! We are very happy to have babies that like to sleep! He said she really looked great and was so proud of her! Of course, we are so proud of her too!

Today is my 31st birthday and my day was made when the little man came downstairs and said, "Happy Birthday Mommy! Where is that cake?!" Too cute! Last night when I was hugging him good night he said, "We all gonna eat birthday cake? And we will sing Happy Birthday to Mommy?"

Now...to how the 48 hours plays in to this.... I have mastitis and have had a very rough 48 hours.  I dont ever remember feeling so bad. We have had two nights of very high fever and body aches. It has not been fun at all. I can handle the pain of the mastitis, it's just been the fever, headache, and "flu-like" symptoms that have knocked me out. They should find another way to describe "flu-like" symptoms... Ughhh! That doesnt do it justice! But anyway, 24 hours of antibiotics later, and I think I am turning the corner. Tonight has to be better! Oh the joys of motherhood!

Another year and more fun memories to look back on! We are very thankful for our little life!
