Merry Christmas!

Sometimes things go just as planned...and sometimes they don't.  The good news about it is that as long as you are with your sweet family then that is all that matters! We had a very happy Christmas around here! We were VERY blessed to have family around and two happy children that have LOVED spending days at home just playing.  After a VERY busy December, we have loved every minute of being at home just playing together.  As I am typing (and saying a small prayer nothing gets broken) the kiddos are laughing hysterically over a $1.00 jump rope that Santa left in Jack's stocking! It's the little things!
I finally got done with a crazy week of work around 9 pm on Thursday... Steven finished up a little early on Friday! We were finally on vacation! It had been a crazy week to say the least. Work was insane for both of us and BOTH kids had the flu!! Are you serious? They both had gotten the flu mist the week before. SO..not sure what my final thoughts are on them getting the actual flu, but luckily it was very mild and short lived. Both had a fever on Tuesday and then that was it.  Lucy was still a little congested, but by Wednesday they were bouncing off the walls. We kept them home the whole week from school just to not infect anyone else and hopefully keep us from getting anything else!  We had a fun Friday baking cookies, meeting friends for pizza and making Smores!!!
Who is excited about baking cookies?! ME!!!!!

This is how we do it around here... Santa pants, gold beads, pirate hat, Indian vest and some legos!

What? Does this not match?

Happy kiddos! We went to look at Christmas lights and made Smores!

Yay!!!

Waiting on her Smore!

Yes...that is Lucy's pink hat on Will!

Yummy!!!!

By Saturday evening, I started fading into some sort of cold.  At least my body waited until the week was over! Ha! Fortunately I started feeling better Christmas Eve afternoon.  We made it through the entire Fall without being sick. We have spent the last 12 days passing things back and forth! But I think everyone is better and hopefully we are past all of that!
While Christmas Eve started out pretty rough (or maybe just in my mind.. the kids don't seem to notice when all the plans in my head aren't playing out exactly right!), the evening was so wonderful! We got everything cooked, decorated cookies, got in Christmas pj's, read Twas the Night Before Christmas, and left out our cookies and treats for Santa and the reindeer. The kids went right to sleep and were super excited. Jack got very teary saying goodbye to Edward Elf. He really enjoyed him this season. The adults had a very nice dinner in the dining room. Granny, Steven, Grandbubba and I had filet, sauteed brussel sprouts, onion rice and good wine! It was a really really happy evening!

Santa came to visit our house that evening... Lucy woke up first at 6:30am! That is early for that little girl! She was standing in her crib literally screaming, "Daddy! Daddy! Get me out!!! PLEASE!!!!!" We went and got her and brought her to our room to play while we waited on Jack to get up! Both kids were so excited and of course we made them wait out those LONG couple of minutes while Granny and I got downstairs and got the camera ready! They came downstairs and were so excited to see Santa came to visit! Jack couldnt believe that Santa drank all of his milk, took bites out of each cookie...and the reindeer ate part of their celery and banana!!!! Lucy went straight to her Elmo slippers and then played with her new baby bed all morning. She had some interesting ideas on how to put the baby to sleep...even under the bed in the cabinet! Jack loved all of his new stuff too! After we had made some monkey bread (Lucy helped with every single piece! She is quite the helper these days!) we found a note from Santa that said we should go outside to see a surprise! We got on some coats (and Elmo slippers) and went outside to see that Santa left a BIG jumpy house in our backyard!!!! Quite exciting!!! The kids loved it! We played inside and out the whole morning. We ate WAY too much monkey bread and then had a big lunch shortly after noon! It was a really happy day! We had Nunno, Poppa, Grandbubba, and Granny all here with us to celebrate!

Waiting to go downstairs to see if Santa came!!!

That is excitement!

He came! He came!

After some much needed naps, we got up and played with all of our new toys and ate leftovers! It was truly a perfect Leonard Christmas! Granny, Steven and I stayed up to watch Christmas Vacation after the little ones were sleeping! What a fun night!

More Fa La La La La!!!

We have been in full Christmas swing around here (in between our crazy life!) We had SUCH a fun Christmas with Mimi and Papa Tillie! They came up on a Friday afternoon and spent the weekend with us. I was running in the door from being in California all week for work (hence the crazy life!)  We played outside and opened presents in front of the tree! Saturday morning I got up and met some great friends and Aunt Jenn to run the Atlanta Jingle Jog! It was lots of fun! Mimi and Papa were so great to let Steven and I go to a Christmas dinner (adults only!!!) on Saturday night! It was a fun night with friends!

Aunt Jenn and me! 2nd Race together this year!

Proud Little man!

Jack had his Christmas program at school last Thursday and Poppa came down to see him sing! He has been singing his songs for over a month (Lucy sings them too!) and he was so excited about his program! They sang five songs and he smiled the whole way through. Lucy, on the other hand, started out smiling at big brother and then tried to go out and stand with him to sing. She was NOT smiling when Mommy told her she had to come back and sit with us! Poor baby girl! She wants to do everything Jack does!

It's hard not to watch her!

So proud!

Such a proud little sister!

Such fun times!! 90 Minutes?! Bring it!

We headed to Poppa and Nunno's for our big family Christmas later that morning! The whole family was there and it was so fun! The kiddos had the best time playing together and opening all their presents! It was a happy day!

And what do you do after a fun Christmas...do it again!!! We went to Granny's on Sunday afternoon to celebrate with all the Buffington's! It is hard to believe that all of the cousins are getting so big!!! They all sat around and worked in coloring books and all opened their own gifts! It was a happy night and I think we have a new tradition of being at Granny's house!
Lots of family! SO happy!

It's hard to believe that this is the week before Christmas (Especially with some more shopping to do!!!) but we are hoping for a little bit slower time and spend some time at home enjoying the holidays! We have lots more cookies to bake and lots more Christmas movies to watch! There are a few things this season that have been so fun with the kids that I want to remember..... Jack is CRAZY about Edward (our Elf on the Shelf), he jumps out of bed to see where Edward could be each morning (Lucy is just as excited if she sees Jack excited!) The boys next door have to come in our house to see where Edward is and Jack has to go to their house each day! We go look at the Christmas lights in our neighborhood every night (it is truly spectacular), both kids favorite song is Feliz Navidad..they sing it all the time (it was part of Jack's program), Lucy sings the same line over and over of Little Drummer Boy (.."Told me...Pum Pum..." TOO CUTE!) Neither of the kids touches the tree or the ornaments. They both helped unwrap them all and were super careful! Jack is in a typical 4 year old mindset..he races through his presents and wants more to open...Lucy takes her time and then gets all into one toy and doesnt care about opening the others. Jack stamped everyone of our Christmas cards this year again. Jack helped with every step of making our sugar cookies during Lucy's nap, Lucy sings "Santa Claus is coming to town!" (just those words but over and over again!) Jack has told 2 different Santa's that he wants an Ipad..hilarious. He actually thinks he wants an Ipod because ours have his Disney music on it and he wants to listen to it any time he wants. (However, Aunt Jenn introduced games on the Ipad to Jack this weekend...we might be in for it! Ha!)

It's been really fun and we are really looking forward to a slower week cruising into Christmas! Happy times around here!
